About the Streets and Drainage Division

Within the City, there are 50 miles of streets, 92 miles of curb and gutter and 35 school crosswalks. The Street Department provides street and right-of-way maintenance services on all roadways throughout the City. Conducts a variety of services to include routine maintenance such as pothole patching, street cut repairs, crosswalks, curb and gutters, grass removal and mowing of right-of-ways. Street Department crews also installs and maintains all City regulatory traffic control, street and departmental signs.

The Streets & Drainage Division is also responsible for maintenance and construction of 8,000 feet of concrete drainage channels, 5,600 feet of non-concrete drainage channels, and countless miles of underground storm pipe, and for maintenance of the Big Fossil Floodway and levee, mowing, weed trimming, trimming trees, removing debris and patching any concrete drainage structures needing repairs. The Drainage Division also maintains the flood pumps at the levee.

»Please note that drainage ditches are not built for trash disposal. Please do not dispose of leaves, grass clippings, trash, debris into open drainage systems. This will impede the flow of water into the underground system increasing the potential for flooding.«
