Public Works : Water / Wastewater
 Water/Wastewater Division

The Water/Wastewater Division maintains and constructs City water and wastewater mains. They are responsible for reading water meters, turning water on and off for new and departing residents, as well as turning water off for non-payment. This division maintains all wells and overhead storage tanks, chlorinators, and pump house. Employees are also responsible for overseeing all contractors working on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) projects, CIP Projects, and water and sewer lines. The Water/Wastewater Division maintains and cameras all city mains as needed.

Within the City, there are 47 miles of water mains, 60 miles of sewer mains, 7 wells, 2 overhead storage tanks, and 3,061 water meters.

Improper Disposal of Yard Waste Can Cause Flooding

Did you know that blowing or sweeping grass clippings, fallen leaves, or other yard waste into the street or down the storm drain can cause flooding? Yard waste that is swept or blown into a nearby storm drain can clog the storm drain and keep water from draining through. The problem is further exacerbated when it rains, particularly during a hard rain. The result, unhappy neighbors!
