Juveniles
- Juveniles 16 and under are required to appear with a parent or guardian before the Municipal Judge. A parent or guardian who fails to appear with a juvenile on their scheduled court date may be charged with a separate misdemeanor offense.
- Juveniles who fail to appear in court may have an additional charge of failure to appear filed against them and their driver's license may be suspended.
- A child and parent required to appear before the court have an obligation to provide the court in writing with the current address and residence of the child. The obligation does not end when the child reaches age 17. On or before the seventh day after the date the child or parent changes residence, the court shall be notified of the current address in the manner directed by the court. The obligation to provide notice terminates on discharge and satisfaction of the judgment or final disposition not requiring a finding of guilt.
Teen Court
Teen Court is an optional program for students ages 12 to 18 who received a citation. Offenders are allowed to resolve their citation by participating in Teen Court. If the offender successfully completes the program the citation will be dismissed. To request Teen Court, the defendant and a parent or guardian must appear on the appearance date.
