School Resource Officer
The School Resource Officer program is a partnership between the Richland Hills Police Department and the Birdville Independent School District (BISD). The School Resource Officer (SRO) is a full-time Richland Hills Police Officer and is assigned to the Richland Middle School but also provides support to Jack C. Binion Elementary and Cheney Hills Elementary. The SRO will also support Alliene Mullendore Elementary through the 2024 to 2025 School Year while the school is temporarily located at 3250 Scruggs Park Drive.
The SRO works to protect the school environment and to maintain an atmosphere where teachers feel safe to teach and students feel safe to learn. The SRO serves three fundamental functions in their role:
- Law Enforcement Officer
- Informal Counselor
Additionally, the SRO works to build relationships with the students, parents, and school staff.

- Car Riders: Students in grades PreK through 5th will be dismissed to the front of the school on Scruggs Park Drive. We will have four loading zones to load eight cars at a time. We are asking families to make one line of cars until the second row of cones is placed on the street. At that time, a second row may form. We ask all guardians to please stay in their cars as students are loaded. Once all eight cars are loaded, they will be released and the next eight cars will be directed to pull forward. Please have your Green Dismissal Card visible so names can be called while you wait to pull forward.
- Daycare and all buses will be dismissed on Latham Street.
- ECSE/SEEC car riders will continue to be dismissed from the parking lot next to the school. We ask all guardians to please stay in their cars as students are loaded. Please have your Green Dismissal Card visible so student names can be called.
