Richland Hills has been providing ambulance service to the community since the early 1970’s.
Our ambulance is staffed with a minimum of one paramedic and one emergency medical technician (EMT) any time it is in service.
Richland Hills Fire-Rescue runs between 1,100 and 1,200 calls for service annually.
When our ambulance is busy on an incident or during times when our staffing drops below five personnel, we utilize MedStar EMS as our mutual aid ambulance.
Our fire engine is always staffed with at least one paramedic, and it carries the same life saving equipment as the ambulance. Our fire engine will still respond to your emergency and begin care until the ambulance arrives to transport you to the hospital
We utilize a third-party billing service for all ambulance billing processes. The company is called Wittman Enterprises. They are based out of Sacramento, California. Their phone number is: 1 (800) 772-6552. You may contact them directly for any ambulance billing related questions
If you are a Medicare or Medicaid recipient, your ambulance bill will be covered by your insurance and there will be no balance bill of any kind for the service.
If you are unable to provide your insurance information at the time of service, you will receive an invoice and an insurance information request from Wittman Enterprises, our third-party billing service. Provide the insurance information to them, and they will handle the rest.
Our ambulance service costs the community approximately $700,000 per year to staff, equip and operate. Our ambulance billing traditionally recovers $250,000 to $275,000 per year or 37 to 39% of its operating costs.
Contact the Fire Department at 817-616-3750 any time if you have questions or concerns regarding the ambulance service or the billing process.
