1. How do I obtain a library card?

Anyone living in the State of Texas may qualify for a library card upon completing the required application. Proof of residency is required. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For more information and application cards, contact the Checkout Desk at 817-616-3760.

2. How do I know when my items are due?

The following items have a 3 week (21 days) circulation period with two automatic renewals. No renewals will be allowed if the items is on hold for someone else.

• Books
• Books on CD
• Music CDs
• CD Players
• Wi-Fi Hotspots

The following items have a one week checkout and no automatic renewal:

• Baking kits
• Learning Kits
• Memory Care Kits

There are no late fees on Richland Hills items after materials have been returned. Items overdue passed the two automatic renewals will be considered lost, and you will be charged the full replacement amount unless they are returned.

3. When can I pick up my holds?

Items on hold may be picked up at the library during regular operating hours, Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 8 pm.

You can always check your account online. To log into your account you will need your library card number and pin (your pin number is the last four digits of your library card number).

4. Where can I turn in my items?

Residents may check out and return all items at any of the MetroShare libraries.

Non-residents can only return items at the library the materials were checked out from.

5. How do I make a request?

A request allows you to ask for an item that may be unavailable be placed on hold for you when it becomes accessible. A request may be made following the same steps as renewals.

There are three ways you can make a request. Please have your library card at hand when making a request.

• Request the item at the Library front desk
• Call the library
• Use the online catalog

Residents

A Richland Hills resident can request items that are currently checked out and/or items located at any of the libraries the MetroShare.

Non-Residents

Non-residents may only request items owned by the Richland Hills Public Library.

6. How do I renew an item?

Items will automatically renew as long as they are not on hold. For any questions, please contact the Library.

7. How do I replace a lost or stolen library card?

To replace a lost or stolen library card patrons must show a valid photo ID. The replacement card fee is $1, which must be paid at time of replacement. A parent or legal guardian must be present for minors.
